A crisp, clean copy, about fine, in the publisher's grey cloth. In a fine dust jacket. A very pleasing example, SIGNED by Styron and also by Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline, who played the two main characters in the 1982 film adaptation, on a bookplate affixed to the front free endpaper. The bookplate was specially produced for an event sponsored by the Virginia Library Association called "All Virginia Reads, " which was an attempt to take a book and encourage the entire state to read it and then discuss it, like a state-wide book discussion group. A gala was held on December 2, 2000, with Styron, Streep, and Kline as the guests of honor to promote the program.
