Author: STYRON, William Title: Sophie's Choice Publication: New York: Modern Library, (1999) Edition: First Edition thus. First printing of the 20th Anniversary edition, published by the Modern Library.
A crisp, clean copy, about fine, in the publisher's grey cloth. In a fine dust jacket. A very pleasing example, SIGNED by Styron and also by Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline, who played the two main characters in the 1982 film adaptation, on a bookplate affixed to the front free endpaper. The bookplate was specially produced for an event sponsored by the Virginia Library Association called "All Virginia Reads, " which was an attempt to take a book and encourage the entire state to read it and then discuss it, like a state-wide book discussion group. A gala was held on December 2, 2000, with Styron, Streep, and Kline as the guests of honor to promote the program. It was at this event that these signed copies were distributed. For more on the program, see the article Why Is Everyone Reading Sophie's Choice?
" published in the journal "Virginia Libraries Volume 46, Issue 3.
