It appears the two had a close relationship based on Ray's tracking down ten local and national reviews of the book, copies of which are in the envelope. The book is in very good condition, in a good condition dust jacket. The jacket shows rubbing, a tear at front top (there's a piece of tape on the opposite side from a failed repair attempt), several smaller tears, chips and creases along the bottom, small indentations at front middle. The flap is NOT price-clipped.
The gray, paper-covered boards show minimal wear, sharp corners. There are no interior marks besides the author's inscription, and the binding is strong.
