The Ingoldsby Legends Arthur Rackham Signed Deluxe First Edition 1907 J M Dent

The Ingoldsby Legends by Thomas Ingoldsby, illustrated by Arthur Rackham. First Rackham deluxe edition, signed by Arthur Rackham, limited to 560 copies, 500 being for the English edition, this is number 402, published by J M Dent in 1907. Vellum covers with gilt decoration to the front and spine, top edge gilt, rest untrimmed, pictorial endpapers, colour frontis plus a further 23 colour tipped in plates with titled tissue guards, 12 tinted plates, many more black and white illustrations throughout.

Original vellum covers are clean and bright, the binding is square and secure, missing silk ties, very slightly splayed at the edges. Pages age toned, a few small spots to the prelims, a very rare minor mark, but generally smart, clean, and tidy. A lovely book in very good + condition.
