This copy is numbered #29. Comes with a CD, also signed by David Tibet, and two screen-printed cards, which have also been signed. Also included in this lot, is a Rejected Signature for the book.
This is a very rare copy of the Special Edition of. By David Tibet, which includes a package of additional items. Most significantly, the Special Edition included an A4 sized pastel painting by David Tibet. So in addition to the deluxe edition of the book, the special edition package included an original artwork, which is signed, titled and numbered on the reverse. There were also 2 screen-printed cards that were included, with the smaller one being signed on the front, in white pen (most of the large cards were not signed, but this one has been signed on the reverse, as has the smaller one). And finally, the special edition of Sing Omega came with a CD, which was only available to purchasers who pre-ordered the book between 2003 and 2005. David Tibet's book of collected song lyrics was first announced in 2003, and the book was then made available for pre-order from the Durtro online store. It was initially titled Under The Rain And Teeth Of Gods." The publication of the book was delayed many times over the years; but it was eventually published in 2014, and titled "Sing Omega. The CD, along with the screen-printed cards, were gifts that were sent, along with the book, to purchasers who pre-ordered the book between 2003 and 2005 (so not everyone who ordered the special edition, necessarily got these extra items). These items have not been inscribed, or dedicated to anybody. So they just have David Tibet's signature. The book has been signed at the back, just below the limitation.
The pastel painting, executed on black paper, is titled on the reverse: "The Hallucinatory Sunset Sing Omega", and is signed, numbered # 29. The CD has been signed on the back (in white pen), and the smaller print has been signed on the front (also in white pen). And both prints have been signed on the reverse, in black pen. The special edition book varies from the standard edition, in a number of ways.
First of all, it is larger. The standard measures 8 7/8" x 5 1/2"; while the special edition measures nearly 10" x 7". Next, the artwork on the front cover, and the titling on the spine have all been blocked in pink (whereas the standard copies were done in black). The endsheets used are completely different from those used in the standard, with the front endpaper reproducing. And the rear endpaper reproducing.
The head- and tail-bands are also different, with a magenta colour used, instead of the black found on the standards. And finally, the silk ribbon is pink (whereas the standard edition copies used either a white or black ribbon). As I have stated above, this copy is numbered, and is particularly rare, in that it comes with all the special gifts and extras, which were only intended for those who ordered a copy, over a decade ago! It is also significant, that unlike most items that David Tibet signs, these have not been dedicated, or inscribed to a particular person. They have all been just signed (without any dedication).
For anyone who missed out on securing the special edition of Sing Omega, this is a must have. Not only are you getting the deluxe edition book and original artwork, but also all the extra gifts, including the CD. It is a rejected first signature for the first standard edition of the book. The pages are partially cut, with some uncut. The main difference between the rejected signature, and the final version of the standard edition, is that the rejected signature has a completely different photograph of David Tibet, facing the title page. The rejected first signature has been inscribed on the front, below the title, and is signed and dated by David Tibet. This is a very rare document, which would make a superb addition to any Current 93 collection. The rejected first signature, will be sent with the book, the artwork, and all the additional extras listed above, including the CD.Important Note Regarding the Pastel Painting : this painting does not have fixative on it, so the pastel on the surface will come off if you touch it. If you are intending to get the picture framed, I recommend you to ask the framer to either put a mount around it, or float it, so the glass does not touch the surface of the painting. The framer will understand what this means.
