With a large color obi belly band. SIGNED by Mark Borthwick on the underside of the obi, front flap, visible if the obi band is taken off of the book. Very good plus with a very good obi. Mark Borthwick established himself as singular voice in fashion photography in the mid-nineties. Since then his practice has kept expanding to include any number of mediums; amongst them film, music, poetry, performance and even food.
He has published numerous books and zines as well as exhibited and performed in galleries and museums around the world. His books are generally defined by a sense of controlled chaos: a feverish use of multiple elements with text and found objects, scrawls and smudges in and around his photographs helping to break up the layouts. In this latest book which accompanied his first solo show at Tokyos venerable Taka Ishii Gallery, his approach is more simplified.A series of full bleed richly colored images in an elegant cloth bound volume. Featured are a number of his light leak photographs that he has been incorporating in much of his work over the past fifteen years; achieved by literally opening the back of the camera for a moment in order to leak light onto his exposed film. Minimal wear to the boards.
Internally, clean, bright and tight. The obi has a few minor creases and edgewear.
