The Art of Manuel Alvarez Bravo. Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego, 1990. Stiff grey wrappers with mounted halftone photograph. SIGNED IN INK BY BRAVO ON THE HALF-TITLE PAGE. A handsome book published to salute the lifetime achievement of Manual Alvarez Bravo and to coincide with the traveling exhibition that originated at the San Diego photographic museum.
In his introduction (in English andish), Ollman writes: There are many Manuel Alvarez Bravos. There is the pre-Columbian Alvarez Bravo, a worshiper of bulls and sacrificer of virgins.... There is another Alvarez Bravo who is purely Mexican in the revolutionary spirit.... There is also an educated, urbane, Europeanized Alvarez Bravo.....Bravo's images are always lucid, lyrical, and perfectly seen, whether in intense sunlight or in dark shadows. The forty-four laser-scanned duotone plates include both classic and rarely seen images. Light surface marks on cover illustration and on the photographers name below the illustration. Slight rubbing to corner tips of cover.
Internally, scattered very light foxing to the half title page. The item "SIGNED Manuel Alvarez Bravo Revelaciones The Art of Limited Ed 40 Duotone Plates" is in sale since Monday, October 22, 2012.
