SIGNED 1st Edition Quiller-Couch, Cambridge, 1912 Oxford Book Victorian Verse

Incredibly rare signed First Edition anthology, compiled by writer and literary critic Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch - one of the Titans of late Victorian / early modern Literature, on both sides of the Atlantic. Published in 1912, the same year Quiller-Couch was appointed by the University of Cambridge as King Edward VII Professor of English Literature - the second man ever to hold the post (which he retained till his death alongside his Fellowship of Jesus College, Cambridge). Often writing under the name "Q", Quiller-Couch was hugely prolific and has been described "the epitome of the school of English literary criticism".

This edition remains in good condition: gilt edged pages, all present and clean. One or two are lightly creases or curled, for the most part the pages are in good and tidy condition. Some light scuffs / stains to the dark cloth cover, as pictured. The external spine is unbroken and in very good condition, with some wear to the upper and lower edge.

Some wear to corners of the cover. Features 560 works by poets including Tennyson, Hardy, Emerson, Poe, Browning and Arnold.
