S N Behrman Duveen Signed 1st/1st (1952 Random House First Edition)

This is a signed first edition in good condition. It was published by Random House in 1952. A startling number of masterpieces now in American museums are there because of the shrewdness of one man, Joseph Duveen, art dealer to John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Mellon, Henry Clay Frick, and William Randolph Hearst.

In a series of articles originally published in. Behrman evokes the larger-than-life Duveen and reveals the wheeling and dealing, subterfuge, and spirited drama behind the sale of nearly - but not quite - priceless Rembrandts, Vermeers, Turners, and Bellinis. This is a 1st Edition / 1st Printing (States -'First Printing'). Book - Good - rubbing/bumping/wear to the corners, edges and covers, a lean and crease to the spine, some marking and discolouration to the covers, slight creasing to several page corners, v.
