Octavo (23 x 15cm), pp. Publisher's brown cloth hardcovers elegantly blocked in gilt, black title label to spine, ochre endpapers, top edge black. One of an unspecified number of publisher's in-house presentation copies, with a printed commemorative label affixed to the flyleaf.

This copy was presented to Alan Ross, who reviewed the book favourably. With a 14-line hand-written note to Ross from Howard on a postcard, dated 2nd January 1971. Together with two contemporary news-clippings of reviews kept by Ross. With much content on Ian Fleming and his relationship with'The Factory' at 30 Bedford Square, this was written by Cape's chairman, who was also a close friend and editor to the creator of James Bond. Editor Alan Ross ran The London Magazine which published one of the earliest 007 pastiches, Bond Strikes Camp.
