(The Life of The Bee) 1914, Sixty second thousand printing. 7.25" x 4.75". Gorgeous hand bound antique book! Binding is signed by M. Marshall, who is believed to have been a member of the Gild of Women Binders.
Marshall wrote the bookbinding section in: The Finderpost: A Guide to the Professions and Occupations of Educated Women, 1906. Bound in full Moroccan leather with small black floral onlays, hand tooled gilt decoration, title and gilded pages on all edges. One of a kind bookbinding masterpiece in a Art Deco or Arts and Crafts style. Spine is just a bit darker than the covers, and there is light between spine and front cover, but no major damage.
Internally, the binding is tight and square. The pages are starting to yellow around the outside edges, and a previous owner wrote a gift inscription on the blank end paper facing the half title.
