Author: John Cage Title: M: Writings'67-'72 Publication: Middletown, Connecticut: Wesleyan University Press, 1973. Signed and inscribed by John Cage in the form of an original acrostic poem. The poem is styled in lighthearted emulation of several others published in the present volume, most notably the acrostic for Marcel Duchamp.
The subject of the poem was Cage's close friend, the ethnomusicologist Fredric Lieberman, who was responsible for arranging many of Cage's notable lectures and performances at institutions across the country and himself a Cage expert. The warmth and wit of the poem beautifully exemplifies the playful genius of the iconoclastic composer.
