These are a signed limited first editions (only volume one is numbered and signed) in good condition. They were privately printed by. (apologies if incorrectly spelt) in 1921.
These books are number 864 from a limited edition of 1500. I will include a small cautionary note from T. Werner Laurie Ltd not to take these books to the USA. Many of the pages in the two volumes are still joined together. Heloise was the niece of the canon of Notre Dame, Fulbert, who entrusted her to Peter Abelard, a peripatetic teacher, for instruction. They were married secretly, and after the revelation of this marriage by Fulbert, he sent his men to castrate Abelard. Consequently, Heloise entered the convent of Argenteuil. Abelard was a French philosopher and theologian. This work tells their tale.These are Limited 1st Editions / 1st Printings. The DJ is not price clipped, though there is no price evident.
