Page and Company, 1904 Edition: First Edition. About very good in the publisher's decorative green cloth. Front inner hinge cracked, gentle darkening to spine, and bottom corners gently bumped. Clean and sound internally, with some pages still unopened. Laid-in is an autograph letter SIGNED by Bliss Carman, dated 25 October 1890.
The letter reads, in full, Dear Sherman: I will come on Thursday night. And I hope to see you before that, but I have not overtaken my??? Let me say Tuesday + then I will hold myself free to throw up all work for that night. They were put in type day ago. I left orders to have them publishes while I was away. But they actually only appear this week.We have no way of identifying the recipient, but it seems to be a rather close friend. We suspect it may be fellow Fredericton, New Brunswick native poet Francis Joseph Sherman, who was a student of Carman's.
The letter has shallow wear at the top edge; overall very good. As a small, independent bookseller in Cleveland, Ohio, I deal in general used, rare, and antiquarian books, autographs, manuscripts, pamphlets, and personal and family papers in all subjects.
