"I had the great good fortune of speaking the first lines of dialogues in the first, talking, supernatural horror movie - Universal's "Dracula" 1931: "Among the rugged peaks that frown down upon the Boprgo Pass are found crumbling castles of a Bygone Age. Written directly on the blank endpage - the rear endpage and inscribed upside down to the text of the pages that follow - yet, more wonderful uniqueness of this remarkable item. Rider & Sons took over the rights to Dracula in 1912 and were responsible for numerous reprints well into the 1950's.This their first of that 1912 edition was completely reset and correcting some of the typographical errors of the original trade edition. The iconic story most all are familiar with, is the Dracula with the text from either the 1897 London edition, or this 1912 edition.
Original bright red cloth, black titles on spine. Scarce original two sided (other publisher titles on reverse side) dust jacket, not price clipped, edge chips, now in plastic protective cover. Very rare and unique long association inscription and hand signature by Carla Laemmle.
