This book weighs 0.75 KG when packed. First edition, first impression with the Scribner's'A'. For Whom The Bell Tolls' tells the story of Robert Jordan, a young American volunteer attached to a Republican guerilla unit during the Spanish Civil War. Hemingway drew on his own experiences as a journalist during the Spanish Civil War for the'North American Newspaper Alliance'. This work is often regarded as one of Hemingway's best works.

Loosely inserted is Ernest Hemingway's signature. A very smart example of this important piece of American literature.

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, excellent, with minor shelfwear. Small loss to the top spine label.

Minor chips to the head and tail of spine. Tape repair to the head and tail of spine internally and to the head and tail of joints. Overall Condition: Near Fine Very Good.

Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear. Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy. Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones. Often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy. Some more serious faults as will. Be described in the condition report under'condition. Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair. As with good only above but with other faults.
