Profusely illustrated with 36 colour plates by Florence Harrison. 4to, publishers original white cloth, extensively decorated in gilt with an all-over elaborately designed illustration and lettering in gilt on the upper cover, the spine beautifully lettered and extensively decorated in gilt, also in an all-over design.

Top edge gilt, xxiv, 369 pp. An attractive copy, the plates all in good condition 2 with folds to the corners and some with creased tissue guards, one early plate with the remains of white tissue guard stuck to the top right hand corner. The text good with some foxing and marginal tears, the title page, the contents title with closed tears (no loss), some marginal damage to one or two other pages not impacting the text. Florence Harrison illustrated books by several notable Pre-Raphaelite circle poets.

Along with Christina Rossetti she also illustrated poems by William Morris and Sir Alfred Tennyson. Approximately 10 ½ inches tall by 8 ½ wide by 2 inches deep.

Spine good condition gilt titles, gilt decoration, bruised to the top and tail. Corners good condition bumped and worn. Boards good condition darkened and well handled, gilt decoration to the upper board, some bumps and marks. Page edges good condition top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Paste downs good condition pictorial. End papers good condition pictorial. Title good condition closed tear to the top of the page in the hinge. Pages good condition gently tanned throughout, some parks and small closed tears to the edges, 2 tipped in plates with folds, some creasing to one or two tissue guards. Binding good condition nice copy.
