PROVENANCE: This Bible is Signed, Dated (1555) and Inscribed by (Johannes Mancanas = Juan Mancanas) Inquisitorial Censor and Prior of the Dominican Order in Valencia, Spain, at the Church of Don Juan. His manuscript corrections can be found written on a few of the margins along with 3 quarter pages of his notes and Signature.
As a Spanish Inquisitor, he would have censored or condemned any given printing of the Bible or particular Scripture. On the last leaf before the rear blank It is inscribed Sacri Senatus Inquisisionis. " And is dated 20 January, 1555 and signed "Joannes di Mancanas. NOTE: OCLC locates only four copies in the U.
