SWAN SONG Robert McCammon (INSCRIBED)

McCammon, Robert - Swan Song Niles, IL. AS NEW & INSCRIBED TO FELLOW HORROR AUTHOR JOHN PELAN. Winner of the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a Novel and in my opinion it would be hard to find a more deserving selection. Swan Song is everything that The Stand wanted to be and just missed being.

Accomplishes in 600 pages what Stephen King was unable to do in over 1000 pages, this isn't so much an indictment of King as it is high praise for McCammon. Speaking as an editor it's hard to look at a 600-page book and describe it as being "tightly-written", but there ya go, I really couldn't find any places wherein I would tighten up the prose; Swan Song is really that ultimate rarity, the unimprovable novel. T his is a beautiful copy warmly inscribed by author Rick McCammon to author/editor/publisher John Pelan. As great as this novel is, I've read it four times and really doubt that ownership of it provides anything more meritorious than "shelf candy" as I'm of an age 62, yeah, I know I don't look it, thanks! - where it is starting to make sense to downsize a wee bit, the various criteria that I'm using includes a.

If I'm going to embark on collecting a certain author who accomplished the amazing feat of winning three Hugos in a row for "Best Novel" by that same token I needs be liquidating my collection of an author with a similar number of books written. I've adopted a policy due to lack of space that when books come in, books must go out... And sell off a collection of short stories by Paul Bowles. There is no commonality of theme, for these purposes a book is a book is a book which flies in the face of replacing like things with like things.

Sometimes I do the one, sometimes I do the other. It doesn't have to make perfect logical sense, it's MY collection. She remains unconvinced that there are any works so substantially better that it would be safe to drop one of her favorites...

Smh Anyway if you're a Robert McCammon or James Lee Burke collector, watch my listings as I'm going to be listing my whole McCammon/Burke collection, almost all of which is signed or inscribed to me.
